Here comes Halloween! As I have grown in my spiritual identity as a catholic understanding the meaning of the catholic-rooted festival of Halloween and All Saints Day has been enlightening and satisfying. Over the years I have met many protestants who fear Halloween or who have been, as Mr. Grunow puts it in the article below, “good puritans” about not allowing their children to dress up for the event. I have heard many of these same people express disbelief in the concept of saints and a general misunderstanding, in my mind, of what the communion of saints is to a catholic and the real gift it is to us from God. This article does a great job giving the history and answers for any curious reader.
