On Being Forgiven

I don’t think most of us realize the power of forgiveness – true and complete forgiveness that comes from practice, a deep understanding of our own flawed selves, and does not expect to know whether the one forgiven “gets it.” Nor do we understand – in its depth – that we have been forgiven. We are flawed…so beautifully flawed… yet so heartbreakingly flawed… while this fact often brings me tears when I see it played out in myself and others…it also brings me joy because I know that because we are forgiven we too can forgive and move from the flaw to the grace of freedom. I try so very hard to keep this understanding deep within my heart recalling moment by moment that I am forgiven so that, moment by moment, I too can forgive and live free. That kind of freedom allows us to live life to the fullest.
