Unless we take the time time to listen to our spouses and to act in sacrificial ways even when it is not comfortable or easy, we will not be able to continue to love. Love takes an act of the will (so says St. Thomas Aquinas) which often is not accompanied by warm and fuzzy feelings or romance or desire. You must know the Lord well to understand what you must do so that you are not subjecting yourself to inappropriate actions by a spouse or overindulging a sin of your own or your spouse. It takes courage to let go and give it to the Lord and then even more courage and patience to let Him answer you.

You cannot give what you do not have. Relationships are not static. We are either growing closer to God and to one another or we are slowly letting love slip away. Step up…today!
